We all know what a calf raise is, but did you know that calf raises originated in ballet as an élevé? Start with your feet in that V shape, or first position, with your heels together and toes slightly apart. Keep your knees and go up on your toes as high as you can, then slowly lower. Repeat until you feel the burn in your calves, the backs of your thighs, and your bum. You can also repeat this exercise with your toes and heels completely together, in parallel sixth position.
